Members of Goodwood Plantation Volunteers
Members of the Tallahassee Area Rose Society join other volunteers to maintain the rose gardens at Goodwood Museum and Gardens every Saturday morning from 9 AM to noon. There are several separate rose gardens located around the grounds. Each garden has different light and different roses that are grown and studied. Some old garden roses are finicky about being pruned and will pout for up to three years before growing and showing off after pruning. So members pay close attention to the individual personalities of each rose. These are the stock that cuttings are taken from for rooting new plants to sell to the public.
The collections of old garden roses require some pruning along with weeding, fertilizing and a bit of loving care.
