My Favorite Rose - October 2009

My Favorite Rose - Rainbow Sorbet, floribunda By Martha Jean Woodward, October 2009

My favorite rose right now is this floribunda. It's name is very appropriate. It is a cool rose! It is a multicolored flower with bright yellow petals with red and orange edges. The bud form is pointed and it opens to a cuplike bloom. The blooms are not large, but make a statement in our g:a"crden. It grows well in our garden with dark green, glossy foliage. It is quite disease resistant.

It was introduced in 2006 by Conrad Pyle Co and was developed by Ping Lim.

Like most floribundas there is no noticeable fragrance. The ARS Handbook for Selecting Roses rates it 8.0. It makes a fine cut flower and it brightens many of my days. If you have had Playboy and liked it, you'll also like its descendant Rainbow Sorbet. I do!
