Jubilee Cottage at Goodwood Museum and Gardens

The Tallahassee Area Rose Society meets at Jubilee Cottage located at Goodwood Museum and Gardens on the third (3rd) Thursday of the months of January-May and August-November at 7:00 p.m. for 1 hour with social time and refreshments afterward. Meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome. Look for announcements of meetings on our website and in the Thursday News and Notes of the Living and Outdoors section of the Tallahassee Democrat.  Programs help members and guests to increase their knowledge and skills of rose culture.

May 20: Annual Picnic at Jubilee Cottage. The Society will provide smoked chicken, drinks and all table set-up. Please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. 7:00 PM.

August 19: David McManus, formerly of Esposito's, now Asst. Dir. of the FSU Grounds Dept. will present a program on “Pests, Diseases and Controls,” covering a range of options for dealing with rose insect pests, fungus conditions and diseases.

September 16: Nate Prosser of Tallahassee Nurseries will discuss the best ways to work successfully with a professional landscape architect or garden designer. Reviews of downloadable landscape design packages will be available for those who would like to share the design work, or pursue a do-it-yourself option.

October 21: Sandy Dixon of the Jacksonville Rose Society, a widely respected arrangement judge, has been invited to do a workshop on “Holiday Arrangements with Roses.” She’ll share her creative ideas and techniques for combining roses with a variety of materials to design arrangements for Thanksgiving and the winter Holidays.
